Twenty Year Personal Revision:

After finishing the college applications and standardized testing I’ve spent the last year working and studying for, I’m not really sure where my future will take me; let alone twenty years. Reflecting over my life for my college prompts made me realize I’ve switched careers several times throughout my life. I’ve gone from SWAT to artist to army to medicine to government worker to my new current fascinations, video games and web designing. While I can’t be at all sure what twenty years from now will hold, I can definitely be sure of a few things I’m sure to have gotten done by that time.

In the next couple years I should hope I finish college. I have decent grades so it’s not likely that every school in the United States will reject me (or at least let’s hope not) With the decline in jobs I can’t be sure I’ll be employed after I get out of college. However, I should hope I’ll have a car and won’t have to use public transportation for the rest of my life. A family wouldn’t be out of the question, but with the relatively low income that comes with web designing and gaming I wouldn’t count it as a likely. Remember, you should pick a job you really love because you’re going to be doing it for a VERY long time. With about 50,000 to 60,000 as the highest salary for web designers I’ll probably be doing it for the rest of my life. But again, if you doing what you really love than it never feels like you’re working a day.

Should this all fail I do have an alternative. I've found a new interest in environmental science and have somewhat decided to major in it. A few sites and surveys have told me that environmental scientists are in need today due to increasing amounts of pollution and industrialization. Nothing tells me that's going to stop in the near future so I may just be in for a slightly more successful job with a better pay of 70,000 to 90,000 dollars. Not to mention I can still game from time to time which is also plus.

If I’ve learned anything over the years, it’s that life is a complex mystery. It’s filled with turns and blocks that will push one way and stop you in another. While many people choose to fight it, I choose to embrace it. I think it’s fascinating that life can take so many turns so quickly and I’m waiting to see what the next twenty years hold.
